Consulting Magazine launched the Rising Star award program in 2007 to identify and recognize outstanding young professionals in the industry, and in 2026 the publication revamped the categories of recognition to focus on the ways these up-and-coming leaders are already changing how the consulting profession operates.

Nathan has been a foundational force in establishing and sustaining the culture, community, and success of the firm’s San Francisco office and broader west coast presence. Nathan plays a central role in shaping the employee experience, particularly for new hires.

His approachability, reliability, and high standards set the tone for how work gets done and how people show up for one another in the San Francisco office. SciVida Named a Top-10 Boutique Consulting Firm Three Years in a Row https://scivida.com/news/scivida-named-a-top-10-boutique-consulting-firm-three-years-in-a-row/ Thu, 12 Feb 2026 23:48:08 +0000 https://scivida.com/?post_type=hbco__news&p=3955 Feb. 11, 2026 ~ Vault’s 2026 Best Consulting Firm rankings are out, and SciVida earned top spots on both the boutique list and the prestigious Vault Consulting 50.

RALEIGH, NC, Feb. 11, 2026 – Vault’s 2026 Best Consulting Firm rankings are out and SciVida is pleased to announce it is in the top 10 on the boutique list for the third consecutive year, earning a ranking of #7 among firms with fewer than 750 consultants.

SciVida was also once again named to the prestigious Vault Consulting 50 for 2026, Vault’s signature list of the best consulting firms in North America irrespective of size.

Impressively, SciVida climbed to the top spot among North American consulting firms of all sizes in the areas of firm leadership and overall business outlook, with #1 rankings in both. SciVida ranked highly in several additional areas, including informal training and mentoring (#3), promotion policies (#3), relationships with supervisors (#4), interaction with clients (#6), level of challenge (#8), formal training (#9), innovation (#9), and satisfaction (#9) among the hundreds of firms participating in the survey.

Because the Vault rankings are based on thousands of employee surveys from hundreds of consultancies and reflect how current team members feel about their employers as a place to work, SciVida is particularly pleased with its ranking in the top 10 among firms of all sizes for satisfaction. Employee satisfaction is as important to firm leaders as client delight. SciVida measures employee satisfaction every month through quantitative and qualitative feedback from the team, shares the metrics and results with the entire workforce, listens to their input, and makes adjustments accordingly.

SciVida leadership efforts are strongly focused on delivering on the firm’s core values, investing in the development and success of employees, and offering solutions that address clients’ pressing business needs, and the Vault survey results demonstrate these efforts have been instrumental in the success and growth of the company over the past year. As an example of how these priorities take shape, the firm devoted an entire session to values and beliefs at the 2025 year-end strategic planning meeting that brought the full SciVida team to Raleigh in December. Breakout groups identified ways SciVida values and beliefs are already being incorporated and where there are gaps, brainstormed how to fill the gaps, and prioritized efforts based on their impact for both employees and candidates.

In addition to employee satisfaction, firm culture is also a differentiator for SciVida. SciVida’s tightknit team and culture of feedback where employees are remarkably invested in helping others to develop and succeed is uncommon, even coveted, in the industry. Many of the areas measured in the Vault survey in which SciVida ranked highly reflect key elements that contribute to SciVida’s extraordinary culture, such as informal training and mentorship, relationships with supervisors, innovation, formal training, and selectivity. A listing of SciVida’s 2026 top-10 rankings is included below, while additional rankings, Vault’s verdict, employee reviews, staff profiles, and more can be found under SciVida’s Vault profile at https://vault.com/company-profiles/management-strategy/scivida.

NEW YORK, June 27, 2025 – SciVida Principal Chris Barger, PhD, traveled to New York to accept his Top Consultant award at a beautiful gala hosted by ALM Consulting Magazine at Essex House New York last evening.

Joining Chris to cheer him on were SciVida leaders and mentors Jeff Liepman, Co-founder and Managing Partner, Kate Jara, Vice President of People and Talent, and Julia Hoina, Principal.

Being recognized in the category of Excellence in Client Service, Chris attributes his success, in part, to his ability to relate to others. “I take great pride in being able to create meaningful connections with people. I always aim to cultivate a supportive, collegial, and enjoyable dynamic on my teams, and I believe that only comes from espousing those views personally,” he said. Chris continued, “I work hard to ensure I am someone my clients want to work with, not only because they know I will do everything I can to ensure the success of an engagement, but also because they know I will bring my genuine self to our interactions.”

In his remarks upon accepting his award, Chris said, “There is nothing I find more professionally gratifying than seeing the switch flip from being viewed as a client’s ‘vendor’ to being perceived as a trusted advisor and thought partner.” He continued, “We don’t get to that point by blindly agreeing with clients or always having the right answer. We get there by being honest, being present, and being human.” Part of that process is challenging clients’ ingoing perceptions and infusing fresh perspectives. Importantly, achieving trusted advisor status with clients also requires being accountable for the challenges they face.

Consulting Magazine has been identifying and honoring top consultants every year for the past two and a half decades, receiving nominations and evaluating the accomplishments of hundreds of distinguished practitioners each year.

Along with excellence in client service, additional categories for 2025 Top Consultant awards included excellence in cybersecurity and data privacy, excellence in digital transformation, excellence in environmental and social governance, excellence in leadership, excellence in regulation and compliance, industry innovators, technology innovators, and lifetime achievement award.

RALEIGH, NC, April 17, 2025 – SciVida is pleased to announce another industry award among its stellar team. Chris Barger, PhD, Principal in the firm’s Research Triangle Park headquarters, has been named a 2025 Top Consultant by Consulting Magazine.

A rising leader in the life sciences consulting industry, Chris has established a proven track record as a sought-after project manager, career mentor, and organizational leader by empowering and supporting team members across the firm. He navigates seamlessly between details and the bigger picture, demonstrating subject matter expertise, presence, and gravitas with clients, and has spent the last several years building trusted advisor relationships with them. For these accolades and more, Chris is being recognized in the Top Consultant award category of Excellence in Client Service.

As a testament to this recognition, Chris’s clients have described him as highly engaged, collaborative, and strategic, as well as unflappable and a pure joy—all actual words they have used when submitting direct qualitative feedback through SciVida’s formal client satisfaction survey program. Chris’s numbers tell the same story, with exceptionally high ratings across all quantitative measures as well.

In addition to his client work, Chris has made integral contributions to SciVida’s growth, fostering a collaborative, engaging, and fun office culture and spearheading numerous internal initiatives. Chris has a unique ability to create meaningful connections with people, from developing deep, trusting relationships with clients, to coaching and mentoring team members, to attracting top talent through earnest and impassioned conversations with candidates. Whether he is wearing his client services hat, staff development hat, or his recruiting hat, Chris is the consummate “Top Consultant.”

Chris pivoted to consulting immediately following completion of his doctoral program in chemistry at Northwestern University, where he also completed an intensive program at Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management that culminated in a certificate in management for scientists and engineers. For Chris, incremental discoveries in the laboratory were exciting but what motivates him on a daily basis is being able to see tangible impacts of scientific research on peoples’ lives. Working in life sciences consulting with an elite team of like-minded individuals who share in this enthusiasm and at the forefront of innovation helping clients solve tough challenges bridges that gap for him.

CHICAGO, April 4, 2025 – Joined by several colleagues to share in the celebration, SciVida Principal Ben Maimon, PhD, traveled to Chicago to accept his Rising Star of the Profession award at a gala hosted by Consulting Magazine at the Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk last evening.

Flying in from San Francisco and Raleigh to honor Ben and cheer him on in accepting his award were SciVida Co-founders and Managing Partners Jeff Liepman and Kevin Barnett, Partner Sean O’Malley, and fellow Principal Julia Hoina, also a long-time friend.

Receiving his award in the category of “Excellence in Client Service,” Ben has a natural aptitude for managing projects, specifically working on tight deadlines and sweating the details, while also continuing to think about the big picture and pulling up to a “so what” for his clients. Ben truly works tirelessly in partnering with clients to ensure their success on each and every engagement.

In his acceptance speech, Ben explained that being a consultant requires being a master of crafts. “Like journalists, we seek facts but report stories. Like emergency responders, we remain collected and professional in high stakes, time-constrained situations. Like accountants, we crunch the numbers. And like artists, we make visually compelling material.” But unlike many of these professions, Ben pointed out, consultants operate behind the scenes. A consultant’s success is intrinsically tied to the client’s success, and good consultants understand and embrace this.

Ben concluded his remarks with heartfelt gratitude for his colleagues and mentors who inspire him to excel and who have helped cultivate his enthusiasm for problem-solving into generating meaningful impact for clients, the broader SciVida team for pushing the limits of what consulting is capable of achieving, and his wife and family for accommodating the often unpredictability of his profession.

RALEIGH, NC, Feb. 12, 2025 – Vault’s 2025 Best Consulting Firms survey rankings are official and we are pleased to announce SciVida jumped even higher to the #3 spot among boutique consulting firms (firms with fewer than 750 consultants), up from #5 last year, and is the highest ranked life sciences firm among all boutiques. This recognition reflects the hard work each team member puts in every single day to establish SciVida as a preeminent life sciences boutique consultancy of choice.

SciVida was also named once again to the prestigious Vault Consulting 50 for 2025, Vault’s signature list of the best consulting firms in North America irrespective of size.

Notably, SciVida also ranked among the TOP 3 across all firms in several areas, including firm leadership, overall business outlook, work-life balance, and informal training and mentoring, and in the TOP 5 for firm culture, formal training, selectivity, promotion policy, satisfaction, interaction with clients, and relationships with supervisors. SciVida also earned high rankings in the Vault diversity categories for women and race/ethnicity.

SciVida is proud of the firm’s climb in rankings in light of being a relatively nascent firm and having only begun participating in the Vault survey with the 2023 rankings when SciVida debuted at #11. The firm jumped to #5 in 2024 and has now hit the top 3 in 2025. The firm stays equally focused on its people as its clients and makes a concerted effort to establish an extraordinary culture for its world-class team.

The Vault rankings are based on thousands of employee surveys from hundreds of consulting firms and reflect how current team members feel about their employers as a place to work. As such, SciVida is particularly pleased to be among the top 5 for firm culture. Culture is a high priority for the firm and team members alike. At SciVida’s 2024 year-end strategic planning meeting, for example, the firm devoted an entire session to culture and learning and development, focusing on the elements to retain and those to build over the next several years as the firm grows. In the area of culture, all breakout groups, independently of each another, identified several of the same elements that are central to what makes SciVida “SciVida”: transparency, commitment to excellence, meritocracy, diversity, and fun.

Many of the areas measured in the Vault survey in which SciVida ranked very highly reflect key elements that make the firm’s culture remarkable, such as training, work-life balance, promotion policies, selectivity, and relationships with supervisors. See below for a listing of SciVida’s 2025 top-10 rankings. SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 28, 2025 – SciVida is pleased to announce another award for the firm, this one honoring the extraordinary work of Ben Maimon, PhD, Principal, who has been named a Rising Star of the Profession for 2025 by Consulting Magazine.

The Rising Star awards honor talented and innovative consultants who are redefining the consulting profession in impactful ways. Winning the award in the category of Excellence in Client Service, Ben exemplifies what it means to delight clients. His knowledge and expertise in the pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, and life sciences supply industries, his project execution skills, and his ability to speak with and win over any client audience are key contributors to his selection for this recognition.

Clients consistently report being extremely satisfied with the projects Ben leads, no doubt due to his knack for going deep on subject matter, sweating the details while always keeping the big picture in mind, and pulling out the “so what” for the client organization to ensure they are well equipped to make critical business decisions.
