RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking a highly skilled Controller to join our rapidly growing team. The position is based out of our Raleigh, NC office, with work-from-home Fridays. The Controller will oversee financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and strategic financial planning. This role offers an opportunity to work in an entrepreneurial and collaborative environment, while providing hands-on leadership and accountability for accounting processes, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support SciVida’s objectives.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Act as a trusted financial advisor and business partner to the senior leadership team
• Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and reconciliations
• Consult on and lead efforts to build SciVida’s accounting and finance infrastructure
• Partner collaboratively with external stakeholders (e.g., tax and accounting firms) on day-to-day operations and long-term strategic planning
• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Develop and oversee annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including tax filings and audits
• Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making
• Present finance updates at key company meetings (e.g., weekly management meeting, monthly all-hands meeting)

QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years work experience as a Controller
• CPA and/or CMA
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and compliance requirements
• Professional services organization experience strongly preferred
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and leadership presence
• A positive and solution-oriented attitude, while tackling challenges with alacrity
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail
• A quest for learning and growth opportunities
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications, with advanced skills in Excel
• Comfortable working with and implementing new systems and solutions
